Define "artist." I challenge you.
So much of what we think of as "art" usually lies in a museum, but I happen to think of art as something more than "fine" art. For instance, my greatest artistic hero right now is Alex_Ross, a spandex-comics guy. In fact I think most of the relevant art these days is coming out of the graphic novel, comics, and genre-art arenas. Not to diss the fine art industry, but how many of us have prints of the most recent ground-breaking artistic work on our walls? Right. Me neither.
I draw, and dream. I am currently enrolled in the FSU studio art undergrad program in order to develop my skills, and I am looking forward to learning how to paint. I assume my main medium will remain pencils, both graphite and colored, though. Alex Ross' work in guache has peaked my interest, so I expect to be exploring that in due time.
I also do computer graphic design using Corel Paint (I was trained on Adobe Illustrator, but Corel is way, wayyyy cheaper). I can do the basics there and I have a few designs up at Cafe Press, so go buy something.
If I ever get any of my work to the point where I am proud of it, I will create a gallery here. Should be interesting.
